About Us
Share the Road is a highway safety program of the American
Trucking Associations (ATA). The program is sponsored by Mack Trucks, Inc.
and Michelin North America Inc. Share the Road has existed
for 19 years, traveling around the country to educate all motorists about
how trucks and cars can safely share the road. Share the Road delivers specific,
life saving information that can immediately reduce the likelihood of having
a traffic accident with a truck or other vehicle. This is accomplished through
news conferences where cars and trucks are set up in simulated highway lanes
that show the common ways in which accidents happen out on the road. Our
goal is to reach as many people as possible and through our safety messages
to change driving behavior so that we can save lives.
Share The Road is a collaborative effort guided by ATA that utilizes veteran
professional truck drivers, and highway safety partnerships around the country
to educate all drivers about sharing our nation's roadways safely. Share
the Road’s corporate sponsors provide
ATA with the critical resources to coordinate this national highway safety
program, with the goal of reducing fatalities on America’s roads.
Through their support, Mack Trucks, Inc. and Michelin North
America Inc. enable ATA to promote a culture of safety throughout the industry
and throughout America, harnessing the highway safety expertise of the trucking
industry and directing it to address a national epidemic of highway fatalities.
At ATA we think that one life lost in a traffic accident is one too many.
We’re committed to reducing the fatality and accident rate on America’s
roadways. Through Share the Road we strive to educate the public on ways to
make driving safer. ATA works in partnership with highway safety agencies
and organizations, and our members, to broadcast the most effective safety
messages possible. Through these efforts we are determined to make America’s
roadways safer for all drivers.
